The Fairy Hobmother and a weighty issue

The Fairy Hobmother (aka Ian from Appliances Online) has been very busy recently, appearing on many blogs granting wishes. I left a comment on a post by Jacqueline over at Tinned Tomatoes, very cheekily asking for a new cooker!!! Well, although Appliances Online, who sell cookers (link removed at request of Appliances Online 22/09/13) and other white goods, couldn't quite run to a cooker (which I wasn't expecting in the slightest) I was very pleased to have my other wish granted, and am now the owner of a shiny new set of kitchen scales.

I haven't had a lot of luck with kitchen scales. I have a set where one of the legs has come loose, which bizarrely enough still weighs things accurately. I also have a set which seem to eat batteries, and then continues to refuse to work, and finally a set where there appears to be no external problem at all, but a 250g packet of butter weighs about 500g..... hmmmm, successful cakes this will not make. The set I recently recieved from the Fairy Hobmother are to replace yet another set where you have to press firmly (actually you have to squeeze and jab at the right time in just the right place) for the scales to come on at all, which is a bit rubbish really. Here's hoping this shiny new set are the answers to my weighty issues...

If you would like the Fairy Hobmother to visit you, leave a comment below, preferably with contact details if they aren't obvious on your blog! I know that the Fairy Hobmother has given out Amazon certificates too, so presumably being abroad doesn't exclude you.

If you don't ask you don't get! Hope they work for you.

I think I too need to invest in a pair of electric scales- my non-electric ones aren't terribly precise and may account for my disasterous recent attempt at macaroons (do like it that I'm blaming it on the equipment!?)

Love shiny new scales. I've had a bad set myself a few years back. It wasn't that accurate and if your poured sugar out the bag slowely it didn't seem to register the extra weight so it never went up - they were useless!

I have those scales they're good! I have to store them on their side in the cupboard though - I had flatmates who kept stacking things on top of them, which would then switch them on and run the battery down.

Ooh I keep hearing about this Fairy Hobmother, congrats on having your a wish granted! I've just got some new scales too, digital ones for the first time and they make such a difference - my measurements must have been way off before. I only have one humble kitchen wish but it isn't an appliance really - it's for an egg separator - after a horrendous DIY egg separation experience yesterday!

I am so glad the Fairy Hobmother visited you C :)

Oh and I finally got around to baking and posting your Chocolate & Pear Cake. I cannot believe it sat bookmarked for so long. It is shameful, especially as it was so wonderful!

Those scales are lovely - what a fantastic fairy! I am lusting after a new hand blender, if you're listening out there, oh Hoblicious one.

I've just got a batch of your coffee & walnut muffins in the oven now (I'm not icing them, so they're muffins, right?). Looking forward to trying them!

I bought the exact same set of scales a couple of weeks ago - they're great! My previous scales were really inaccurate but these are fantastic, and I love the fact that you can reset them to zero and add another ingredient to the pan/bowl/whatever you're using to measure with.

I'd love the Fairy Hobmother to visit me - lucky you!
